The Edward St. John Foundation provides financial assistance to formal education programs. Over the years, more than $56 million has been contributed, pledged, and gifted through donations by the Foundation and Edward St. John to a variety of not-for-profit organizations in communities where we have a business presence.

About Edward St. John
Edward St. John is the Founder and Chairman of St. John Properties, a real estate development company he launched in 1971. Headquartered in Baltimore, the company owns and manages over 24 million square feet of commercial space across 12 states, along with investments in more than 3,000 apartments. St. John Properties is known for its sustainable development, with 100 LEED-certified buildings, and has received national recognition, including the 2018 NAIOP “National Developer of the Year” and 2020 “Best Places to Work” by the Baltimore Business Journal.
In 1998, he created the Edward St. John Foundation to support education through high school. Guided by the belief that "education has the power to transform lives," the foundation and his company have donated or pledged more than $65 million to causes that help students succeed.
A proud University of Maryland alumnus (Class of 1961, B.S. Electrical Engineering), St. John has served on numerous boards and has been widely recognized for his leadership, philanthropy, and commitment to community. His honors include a Doctor of Public Service from UMD, Maryland’s “Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year,” and a spot in the state’s “Power 100.”

The St. John Center is a collaboration between the University of Maryland School of Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. Together, researchers from these distinct disciplines will tackle a broad spectrum of generational health challenges and drive medical innovations that benefit patients in Maryland and beyond..
The 35,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility occupies the entire fourth floor of 4MLK in the University of Maryland BioPark in Baltimore. CTEM will foster face-to-face collaboration among clinicians and engineers as they develop next-generation medical solutions. Their proximity will ensure that the real-world medical needs of healthcare professionals and patients directly inform the development of devices, diagnostics, and treatments, and accelerate the pathway from research to patient care.
